From simple workshop to leading multinational in four decades.
In the 1970s, BTV rapidly took the lead among the fifty or so manufacturers that sprang up following the passing of legislation that made fitted mailboxes mandatory in all new buildings. Thanks to its wide range of products and fast service, the company quickly rolled-out a sales network in cities and regions across the country. The sustained growth of the hardware and construction industries in Spain since the 1970s, together with the company’s own growing production capacity and willingness to embrace new technological advances in the 80s, helped to consolidate BTV as a leading post box supplier in the domestic market.
During the 1980s, BTV began to diversify its products, experiencing success in what was then the new market in domestic safes. In 1981, production of safes began and even the early models incorporated electronic locking systems. The company quickly consolidated its position as a leading manufacturer of safes in Spain and, in the second half of the decade, built its own research laboratories and successfully launched production of its own electronic components. Research & Development’s incorporation of digital locking systems into their safes subsequently turned the company into an internationally recognised innovative and dynamic safe manufacturer.
By the early 1990s, the company was facing its next major challenge: international expansion.
By 1995, our growing presence in the European and American markets resulted in the company building and moving into its current 18,000m² manufacturing plant in Zaragoza. The plant houses a fully automatic powder coating facility and state-of-the-art sheet plate processing technology.
BTV successfully established itself in Guadalajara (Mexico) in 1996. The company headquarters quickly followed suit, moving to Cancun in 2002, where our subsidiary company Safe Security Rent (SSR) is also based, providing secure storage facilities and after-sales service to the Mexican hotel market.
BTV became present in China in 1998, by investing in BTV CHINA, its own manufacturing plant in the city of Hangzhou, in this way providing our Asian clients with the same quality products and fast service, in the local language. The plant moved in 2006 to the city of Jiaxing, just 90 Km away from Shanghai, where our Asian logistics centre was set up.
Today, we are the leading supplier of mailboxes and safes to the Spanish market. We design and manufacture mailboxes and safes with one single objective: to guarantee the highest level of SECURITY tailored to the needs of our clients.
